PROJECTS

SGP Malaysia supports community-led projects that address environmental challenges while delivering social and economic benefits at the local level.

SGP Malaysia Impact

SGP Malaysia has contributed to the restoration and improved management of degraded ecosystems across both rural and urban landscapes, driven by community-led action.

Key Achievements under OP7:

  • 5,413 hectares of degraded land restored, exceeding the end-of-project target by 541%, with significant results in the Upper and Middle Baram landscape.
  • 19,514 hectares under improved management, representing 45% of the target, through community forest management and sustainable land-use practices.

These results reflect strong community ownership of conservation efforts, particularly in forest and agro-forest landscapes. Through participatory approaches in buffer zones, Indigenous territories, and production landscapes, SGP Malaysia continues to strengthen biodiversity protection while supporting sustainable livelihoods.
